Local area

Here at The White Horse Inn, it seems adventure is never far away….
We are situated at the top of the historic high street surrounded by Dickensian buildings with over a hundred shops and the home of Maldon salt. The town itself enjoys a lovely location close to the Blackwater Estuary - where the open water, mudflats and saltmarsh provide a superb landscape for walking, boating and fishing. Visit the Hythe Quay, the home of the few remaining Thames Barges which offer short trips in the summer. Stroll along the footpath through Promenade Park and visit the museum or take in the local wildlife. For the kids visit the playgrounds and splash park, which is also the location of Maldon’s famous mud race, or head for the petting zoo or mini golf. If you’re bringing your dog, there are many on and off lead walks you can take. Whether they like to walk along the river or run through the woods, Maldon is perfect for dog friendly holidays.
